“Nature itself is the best physician.” — Hippocrates
May is Here
As the warmth of the season returns, notice how your body responds. Muscles soften. Breathing deepens. Thoughts feel lighter. This is not just a feeling - it is a neurologic shift into relaxation.
One of the key players in this process is the vagus nerve, which connects the brain to many of our internal organs and helps regulate rest, digestion, and hormone balance.
Another important structure is the pituitary gland. Often called the “master gland,” it sends signals to nearly every hormone-producing organ in the body. Because it responds to both nervous system input and hormonal feedback, it is known as a neuroendocrine organ.
Why does this matter? Because your nervous system and your hormones are deeply connected - and you can influence both through simple daily rhythms.
Caring for your sleep and circadian rhythm is one of the most powerful ways to support this system. Early morning sunlight to the eyes (without looking directly at the sun and without sunglasses) sends critical signals to the brain that help regulate hormone function for the entire day.
Try not to overthink it. Instead, reconnect with nature:
- Walk outside in the morning light
- Touch trees, walk barefoot on the earth, or sit near water
- Feel the sun on your skin
- Wake with the sun and wind down with the evening light
- Practice gratitude, which positively influences how the brain regulates hormone signaling
Small, consistent connections with the natural world create powerful internal shifts.

TRUDIAGNOSTIC TESTING | 20% OFF THROUGH JUNE 2026
I recently completed my own TruAge and TruHealth testing and the results were amazing. This level of insight into biological aging is truly remarkable. Rooted in research from Harvard and Yale, it is at the forefront of preventive and longevity medicine.
Biological age reflects how your body is functioning - not simply how many birthdays you’ve had.
This testing evaluates:
- Biological age
- Rate of aging
- Organ system performance and biological age of each system
- Areas that may benefit from lifestyle optimization
Developed through research at Harvard and Yale, this represents a leading edge in longevity and preventive medicine
