"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." — Confucius
Why Is It So Hard to Take Care of Yourself?
You know what to do. Eat well. Sleep. Move your body. Manage stress. See a doctor. On some level, most of us have known these things for years.
And yet.
There's a gap between knowing and doing that can feel enormous — and if you've ever stood in that gap, wondering why you can't seem to close it, you are not alone. More importantly, you are not weak. That gap has a reason.
When Hope Has Been Worn Down
The hard part isn't starting—it's keeping going. When past attempts failed, your nervous system files that away, so you quietly assume this will too — shown by missed appointments and half-done plans. It looks like inconsistency. From the inside, it often feels like something closer to self-protection: why risk disappointment again? And it progresses to low self-esteem because you feel like you’ve let yourself down….again.
This is one of the most important things I've come to understand in my practice: for many patients, the obstacle isn't information. It isn't even motivation. It's hope — specifically, the quiet depletion of it after years of dismissed symptoms, labs coming back “normal”, prescriptions for a symptom that are only band-aids. This causes the trust in the system to erode. Meeting with so many road blocks, there is doubt that change will ever be possible. Your commitment becomes nearly impossible to sustain.
What Makes This Time Different
Lasting change in your health requires three things:
- The right information
- A plan tailored to your actual situation
- Someone in your corner who holds the vision for you when you struggle to hold it for yourself.
Most people trying to improve their health have one of these. Rarely all three.
This is why accountability isn't a luxury in health care. It's structural. The research on behavior change is consistent. People achieve more, sustain for longer, and recover faster from setbacks with a guide who is intimate with their history and engaged over time. Two steps forward and one step back. This is actually the path to lasting change. When a coach, mentor or guide is with you, it helps you keep the faith.
Everyone Needs a Guide
Even physicians have physicians. Athletes have coaches. The most accomplished people in any field have someone who sees them clearly and keeps them on track through the inevitable plateaus.
Health is no different.
I am here to be your guide — staying in it with you, tracking what the data reveals, adjusting as your body responds, and holding the vision for your health when you can't quite hold it yourself. My patients have someone who knows them: their history, their patterns, their particular biology. This relationship is where healing actually happens.
If you've tried before and it hasn't stuck, it may simply mean you've been navigating without the right guide.
That is exactly why I'm here.

Question of the day!
What can I expect from your treatment?
Good question! Your treatment begins with the foundation: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress reduction, and the quality of your relationships. These are the lifestyle factors that either fuel healing or quietly undermine it. While keeping these in mind, I select personalized supplements based on your specific needs and what is revealed in your laboratory results. When called for, prescription medication may be necessary. I draw from both Eastern and Western traditions. Everything I recommend is informed by your goals, preferences and safety.
At the center of all of it is communication. Reaching out with questions and sharing what is happening for you is essential. I spend real time getting to know your history, understanding your patterns and building a vision of where you are and where you want to go. Our working relationship is one of the most powerful tools we have. And like any powerful tool, it works best when you show up for it — consistently, honestly, and with a willingness to stay the course even when progress feels slow.
Motivation will wane. Commitment can be refreshed. Small daily decisions around sleep, nourishment, movement and stress add up in ways that surprise people. Show up, remind yourself that your goal is absolutely within reach, and trust that every small act of self-care is quietly building something lasting.
Recipe for August - Babaganoush

I love this recipe because it is elimination-diet and detox compliant. Eggplant is a nightshade and some may avoid it. For those off of dairy, legumes, gluten, sugar, and corn, this recipe with vegetables for dipping is a treat! Try leaving the skin on the roasted eggplant for a smoky and more rich flavor.
INGREDIENTS (Use organic!)
1 eggplant
1 tomato diced
1 onion diced
2 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons parsley
½ lemon juiced
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon pomegranate molasses optional
sumac optional
mint leaves optional
Method:
- Place the eggplant directly over the flame on your stove top. Roast it for about 15 minutes by turning it from side to side until the skin is burnt and the pulp is soft and tender.
-
Remove the skin then mash it using a fork or a potato masher.
-
Combine with tomato, onion, garlic, parsley, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and give it a good mix. You can add pomegranate molasses if you wish.
-
To serve, drizzle with some olive oil, and garnish with sumac and parsley or mint leaves. Serve warm or cold with pita bread.
